Detects magnetic flux density in two different directions

Detects magnetic flux density in two different directions

Previously, a rotation detection mechanism using two Hall effect ICs, each capable of detecting only a vertical magnetic field, required the ICs to be arranged to detect magnetic flux density with a 90° phase difference.
The S-57W1/W2 S Series integrates a Hall element capable of detecting magnetic flux density in two different directions on a single chip, allowing it to automatically detect magnetic flux density with a 90° phase difference. This strongly contributes to improved design flexibility and eliminates the need to redesign the board even when changing the number of poles on a multi-pole ring magnet.

High-sensitivity product with 0.8mT typ.

High-sensitivity product with 0.8mT typ.

Increasing the number of poles on a ring magnet is an effective method to improve rotation detection resolution. However, this reduces the magnetic volume of each magnetized section, resulting in weaker magnetic flux density.
The S-57W1/W2 S Series offers a high-sensitivity product with 0.8mT (typ.), enabling reliable detection of weak magnetic flux density. This makes it ideal for motor applications using multi-pole ring magnets with a large number of poles.

Small and thin package

Small and thin package

Motors require various sizes and thicknesses depending on their applications.
The S-57W1/W2 S Series offers a lineup that includes the SOT-23-5 (2.8 × 2.9 × t1.3 (max.) mm) package and the small, thin HSNT-6(2025) (2.46 × 1.96 × t0.5 (max.) mm) package. This makes it ideal for compact, low-profile motor applications with limited mounting space.

Output delay time of 8.4μs typ.

Output delay time of 8.4μs typ.

The S-57W1/W2 S Series has a short output delay time of 8.4μs (typ.) from when a magnetic flux density is applied until the output inverts. This enables it to detect rapid changes in magnetic fields, making it suitable for detecting the rotation of high-speed motors.
