The World’s First* Automotive 1-cell Battery Protection IC Enhances Backup Power Safety.

Ideal for Lithium-ion Battery Protection in Backup Power Systems.

Ideal for Lithium-ion Battery Protection in Backup Power Systems.

In-vehicle systems such as e-Call and TCU are equipped with backup power systems to maintain their operation for a certain period, even if the 12V lead-acid battery stops functioning. Recently, there has been a shift in backup power sources from nickel-metal hydride batteries (Ni-MH batteries) to lithium-ion batteries, which are smaller and lighter. The S-19161A/B Series is the world’s first* automotive 1-cell battery protection IC, making it ideal for protecting lithium-ion batteries used in backup power systems.

Automotive Quality that Withstands Harsh Environments.

The S-19161A/B Series operates over a wide temperature range, from -40°C to +125°C. Additionally, it is AEC-Q100 (Grade 1) qualified and PPAP capable, ensuring reliability for automotive applications.

In addition to automotive applications, it can also enhance the safety of equipment in applications that require high-temperature operation.

Miniaturization and Weight Reduction of Backup Power Systems.

Miniaturization and Weight Reduction of Backup Power Systems.

Lithium-ion batteries have a higher output voltage compared to nickel-metal hydride batteries, allowing for a reduction in the number of cells required when used as a backup power source. This, in turn, enables a more compact and lightweight design. By using the S-19161A/B Series for their protection, a simple protection circuit can be constructed.
