Compact Package Supports Module Downsizing and Boosts Thermal Efficiency
![]()
ABLIC Inc. (President: Seiji Tanaka; Head Office: Minato-ku, Tokyo; hereinafter "ABLIC"), a group company of MinebeaMitsumi Inc., today announced the launch of the S-19560B Series, a Power Management IC (PMIC) for automotive camera module supporting 16V input and three power output channels.
The "S-19560B Series" is ABLIC's first PMIC to integrate two step-down DC-DC converter channels and one LDO regulator channel into an ultra-compact HSNT-8(2030) package (2.0 × 3.0 × t0.5mm).
In the circuit design of camera modules requiring downsizing, by combining the 3-channel output S-19560B Series with ABLIC's small, high-PSRR (*1) LDO regulator (S-19255), designers can configure a four-channel power supply circuit with the industry's smallest mounting area (*2). This solution reduces the mounting area by approximately 20% compared with competing four-channel PMICs. Furthermore, utilizing an external LDO regulator offers the significant advantage of heat dispersion, contributing to space saving and improved thermal efficiency of the camera module.
Additionally, image sensors and serializers often require different output voltages and power-up sequences depending on the manufacturer and device model. The S-19560B Series simplifies these settings by providing preset configurations, reducing both setup time and development effort.
In recent years, as vehicle technology accelerates—driven by CASE (Connected, Autonomous, Shared/Service, Electric)—the number of viewing and sensing cameras indispensable for Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) and Autonomous Driving (AD) has increased rapidly. The S-19560B Series was developed to address the various challenges that arise from this growing demand for automotive cameras.
(*1) PSRR (Power Supply Rejection Ratio) indicates how effectively a regulator suppresses fluctuations (ripple) from the input power supply so they do not appear at the output.
(*2) Industry's smallest mounting area as a power supply solution for 5-megapixel automotive camera modules, based on ABLIC internal research as of November 2025.
Major Features
- Small Package Achieves the Industry's Smallest Mounting Area (Approx. 20% Reduction Compared with Competitors)
The 3-channel output PMIC is integrated into ABLIC's proprietary compact package, HSNT-8(2030) (2.0 × 3.0 × t0.5mm). This contributes to significant space savings on the circuit board, meeting customer requirements for automotive camera module downsizing.
The minimum required external components are two coils and five capacitors. By adding one compact, high-PSRR ABLIC LDO (S-19255) and two capacitors, a power supply circuit with the industry's smallest mounting area can be configured, achieving approximately 20% reduction compared with competing products. - Heat Dissipation Achieved by External LDO
By placing one of the LDOs that supply power to the camera module outside the PMIC, heat concentrated in the PMIC is dispersed. This contributes to effective heat countermeasures for in-vehicle camera modules. Furthermore, by shortening the distance between the CMOS Image Sensor (CIS) and the LDO, external noise on the power line can be suppressed. - No Initialization Required Upon Power-On
The product is shipped with the output voltage, startup sequence, and other parameters pre-configured. Therefore, it can be used immediately as a power supply after applying power, without the need for any initialization operations. This enables the power supply for the camera module to be constructed with a simple configuration. - Automotive Quality
The product undergoes three-temperature tests (low, normal, and high temperature). It is also planned to comply with AEC-Q100 reliability and quality standards set by the Automotive Electronics Council, with PPAP (Production Part Approval Process) compliance forthcoming. The product is suitable for use in harsh environments commonly found in automotive applications.
