-
The World Children's Baseball Fair began in 1990 with its first tournament in Los Angeles, USA. This major event was initiated by the world's two home-run kings - Sadaharu Oh from Japan and Hank Aaron from the U.S.A. Their aim was to expand this wonderful sport, baseball, throughout the world and help children to learn the game. They also hoped this event would promote friendship among children and help to create a borderless world. Since then, it has been held every summer. Some of the past participants have become professional baseball players in Japan or Major League Baseball in U.S.A., and even national team members.
This year's baseball clinics are expected to participate 80 children from 11 countries and regions. One team from outside of Japan (15 members) will play international friendship games with local teams from Akita Prefecture. Children will live, eat, and play together, fostering international goodwill and building deep bonds through baseball clinics, friendly matches, and various exchange activities.
